Go east III
The "Go East" series offers an offbeat, provocative take on military power, using a Russian military parade as its backdrop. Through these bold, original photographs, I propose a subtle, ironic satire of traditional symbols of strength and virility.
In a world where extravagance meets subversion, a solid gold Lada Niva becomes the center of attention, while soldiers dressed in pastel pink uniforms march with confidence, carrying solid gold Kalashnikovs. This offbeat aesthetic questions gender norms and explores the complex links between masculinity, military power, and identity.
The reference to the Pet Shop Boys' song "Go West" adds a political and cultural dimension to this series, underscoring the critical aspects of militarization. Through its sharp eye and engaged artistic approach, the work invites the viewer to reflect on questions of power and identity in contemporary society.
